Your morning email briefing. No cloud.
Mailgist reads your mailboxes, and a model on the same computer sorts your threads: who’s waiting on you, what you’re waiting on, which deadlines and amounts. Every deadline is backed by a quote from the email.

There’s also a trial version for Windows.
All your email in five sections
Instead of a hundred unread emails, a short list of what really needs you. The rest hasn’t gone anywhere — it just stays out of your way.
Someone asked you a question, sent a contract, or needs a decision.
You asked and are waiting for an answer. You can see who’s silent and for how many days.
Dates, deadlines, invoices, and amounts — with a quote showing where they came from.
Worth knowing, but no reply needed: policies, summaries, news.
Newsletters, notifications, receipts. Stacked up out of the way.
Three steps, and your morning starts with what matters
-
Connect your mail
Gmail, iCloud, and Yandex — with an app password. Work email already set up in the “Mail” app on your Mac — Mailgist reads it from there, no passwords.
-
The model analyzes on the spot
The language model runs through free Ollama right on your Mac. You don’t need to install it separately: setup installs it with one button and downloads the model — just once.
-
Open your briefing
New emails are analyzed on their own throughout the day. In the morning you get one page: what needs a reply, what’s urgent, and what you can safely skip.
A calm interface that doesn’t fight your mail
Light and dark themes follow your system. Keyboard shortcuts for everything you do every day.
Your email stays with you
There’s no need to hand your email to someone else’s servers so that someone can “smartly sort” it. Mailgist is built so there’s no one to hand it to: the emails, the model, and the analysis results all live on your Mac.
- your mail servers, to fetch emails;
- Ollama on this same computer — it doesn’t go to the internet during analysis;
- mailgist.app — account sign-in, an account check every 15 minutes, technical events (unless you turned them off), and checking for a new version.
- No cloud for your email. There’s no server of ours that your email passes through. A Mailgist account holds only your sign-in address and a list of your Mac.
- Read-only. Mailgist doesn’t send, delete, or move emails, and doesn’t mark them as read.
- Technical events only. Version, setup steps, error codes, and analysis speed — no emails, addresses, or subjects. Turn it off with one switch. There are no trackers on this website.
- Passwords are encrypted. The key is stored in the macOS Keychain.
- Images in emails aren’t loaded. The sender can’t tell you opened the email.
Built for people with a lot of email
Backed by a quote
Every deadline and every amount comes with the phrase from the email where it’s mentioned. The model can’t “invent” a deadline.
All mailboxes in one place
Personal and work mailboxes side by side. Groups, colors, and a check schedule of its own for each.
Threads, not emails
Replies are gathered into a thread, so you can see whose turn it is: yours or theirs.
Fast search
Search across all your mail in ⌘K — from a local database, with no network requests.
Shortcuts for everything
j and k move between rows, Enter opens, o opens in Mail. The “Done” and “Tomorrow” marks take a single tap.
Honest updates
The app checks for new versions and asks before installing. Every build is signed and notarized by Apple.

The short version
How much does it cost?
Free for now — payments are not enabled yet. Free gives you every feature on one mailbox, Pro — on any number of mailboxes. Pricing
Are my emails sent anywhere?
No. Emails are fetched from your mail servers straight to your Mac, and a model on the same computer analyzes them. Mailgist has no server that your email passes through.
Can Mailgist delete anything or send email on my behalf?
No. The app is read-only: it doesn’t send, delete, or move emails, and doesn’t even mark them as read. You can reply with the “Open in Mail” button — you write the email yourself, in your own mail app.
Which email providers are supported?
Gmail and Google Workspace, iCloud, Yandex — directly. Any email account already set up in the “Mail” app on your Mac (for example, a work one) — through “Mail”.
